Risk Leadership Network – a year into risk leaders driving change together

It’s been a full year since the official launch of Risk Leadership Network – and what a year it has been for risk leaders – but we’re just getting started

Just after launching Risk Leadership Network last year, we outlined our core aim of making it easier for risk leaders to learn from and collaborate with peers in other companies, sectors and geographies. Our ambition remains to transform how risk professionals and their teams collaborate to advance risk management, help their firms make better decisions and, ultimately, drive performance and profitability.

And over the last 12 months, Risk Leadership Network members from over 25 countries around the world have helped us kick-start this ambition by collaborating with an extraordinary level of generosity and openness.

Members have been sharing and continue to share their experiences, insights and advice with one another through collaborative member meetings (now taking place an average of four times a week); by contributing to an ever-growing database of practical case studies, guides, reports and templates; and by continuing and expanding the discussions on the network’s instant messaging platform.

Last December also saw members contribute to the network’s first global risk appetite benchmark study. The resulting report details eight effective approaches to risk appetite, identified through extensive interviews with members and supported by real-life templates that members have created and implemented.

This year will see the network take collaboration between members even further as members help shape, build and contribute to new tools and benchmarking projects, providing easy access to invaluable data and insights.

Time and time again, we have been astounded by the honesty, enthusiasm and drive of Risk Leadership Network members as they seek to solve real problems and move the whole risk community forward.

We’re also finding international collaboration to be even more powerful and important than previously thought. As organisations around the world enter new stages of the pandemic, members find themselves within easy reach of an international pipeline of contacts and resources both within and outside of their own sectors. For many members, the community now plays a vital role in informing and validating their approaches.

Practical knowledge sharing is now more important than ever before. The support of an extended risk team – the Risk Leadership Network membership – has become an essential resource for many risk leaders. We’d therefore like to thank all members and everyone who has contributed to the network so far.
