Case study: how a major-listed retailer used their Risk Leadership Network membership to assess their organisation's maturity
Our members have typically used consultancies for their maturity model work, but this comes with a high price tag. One member, a large multinational retail organisation, asked if they could use their Risk Leadership Network membership for this instead. In particular, they wanted to make sure that their maturity was benchmarked exclusively against sector peers.
In collaboration with highly experienced risk practitioners, we produced a new risk maturity model that provides:
- A self-assessment — a repeatable competency assessment over 10 categories (Risk governance, Risk policy and framework, Risk identification and assessment, Controls and assurance, Risk reporting, Risk technology, Risk appetite, Emerging risk, Risk capability and Risk culture).
- A cohort benchmark — see how their maturity in the 10 areas compares to a requested cohort (i.e. retail).
- A risk maturity roadmap — resources and collaboration to support their continual improvement.
