The Risk Leadership Network continues to grow – recently we’ve welcomed another three new member organisations, including a FTSE 100 utilities company.

As we learn more about our Members and their specific objectives and challenges, the range of topics being covered in the network is getting wider, and the resulting discussions are going deeper.

Our virtual meeting programme is expanding at pace, with lots of great meetings having taken place in the last few weeks and a whole host of activity planned for the next few months.

Take a look at this page for a snapshot of the planned activity so far for September and October.

Read on for a brief round-up from across the network.

Recent and upcoming virtual meetings

Recent New Thinking meetings include a session on modelling risk maturity with Domenic Antonucci, author of Risk Maturity Models, and another on cyber risk management led by Philippe Cotelle, head of cyber, insurance and risk management at Airbus.

Next up we have a session on the value and benefits of modelling with Graeme Keith, former lead strategy advisor and head of enterprise risk management at Maersk Oil, as well as a re-run of a particularly popular previous New Thinking session on risk champion networks, with advisory board member, Alexander Larsen.

Recent virtual roundtables have included lively discussions on risk managing M&A and the effectiveness of risk appetite, with more scheduled on adapting risk management for agile teams, captive insurance, and adapting risk workshops to online.

Contributions currently in focus include:

  • Decision making under time pressure
  • Improving an organisation’s risk capability
  • Reporting on top risks and quantifying appetite
  • Book summary: Thinking, Fast and Slow
  • Optimising the new three lines model

You can download a free copy of a paper from Alexander Larsen on 'How to build an effective risk champion network' here.

Latest from our Insights blog

We’re producing regular risk commentary for Members and non-Members in this blog to run alongside our membership services.

If you missed it, take a look at an adapted version of an Intelligence paper on conducting a risk maturity review from Andrew Potter, CRO of member organisation BAI Communications.

When it comes to influencing decision-making, do you favour a quantitative or qualitative approach? A group of CROs and senior risk managers unpicked the for and against in one of last month's virtual meetings, and the findings are summarised in this blog post.
