The companies vary in size from small, fast-growing start-ups to some of the largest businesses on the NASDAQ and other indices. The companies operate in various industries including software-as-a-service, fintech, property, human resources, sales and more.
The more relevant unifying factors are their large, complex risk profiles, and divergent operational and strategic risks that must be managed differently as multiple sites and in as many as 20+ countries.

Input for this benchmarking report was collected via interviews with risk leaders at each company. The recipients were invited by Risk Leadership Network so that only relevant risk leaders contributed data. The interviews asked a series of mostly open-ended questions to understand the structure of each organisation's risk team and its priorities.
All responses have been anonymised, collated and analysed collectively for this report.
A member approached us with a priority: to work out how to effectively deploy the risk resource, how to incorporate first line risk support, how to aggregate inconsistent risk information and how to ensure thta both top-down and bottom-up risk management is working effectively in the business. Together we decided that the best way to approach this was for Risk Leadership Network to create a bespoke benchmark, using insights from other organisations with similar challenges.
